John H. "Scotty" Crerar

John H "Scotty" Crerar, Col. US Army (Ret) (Age 86) passed away on 1 December, 2016 at his home in Vienna, VA. Beloved husband of Katherine and devoted father of seven children. He is also survived by three grandchildren, a sister and many relatives, friends and comrades-in-arms. Funeral services will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, PO Box 89367, Tampa, FL 33689.

"Scot was one of few Army members of the ACA; he was a life member and a personal friend of our General "Heinie" Aderholt from their days together in Laos. Colonel Crerar was a former Commander 10th SFG. He was a Distinguished Member of Special Forces Regiment...equivalent to our Air Commando Hall of Fame. He was also a member of the Army's Psychological Operations Regiment. Colonel Crerar helped shape Army doctrine on Special Forces and was instrumental in creating Special Forces career field.
