Major Retired Lee D. Griffin, age 84, passed away Sunday, May 21, 2017. He was preceded in death by his brother James Griffin, and his wife of over 50 years, Rita Griffin. Lee is survived by his two daughters Wendy Griffin and Dona Pickett, and 2 grandchildren Bria and Marco Pickett. Born in San Francisco in 1933 and raised in an orphanage, Lee joined the US Air Force at age 17 and served for 20 years. He was a B-47 Navigator in the Strategic Air Command, went on to Pilot Training, served in missiles, and flew the B-26 with the Air Commandos, flying in the Viet Nam war during this time. After retiring from the Air Force, he went back to school earning a Master's in Business where he worked as an accountant and opened the Griffin Business Service which served people in the Fort Walton Beach area for several years. Lee was a Fort Walton Beach resident since 1969 and will be missed by his fellow Veterans and Lifelong Air Force Friends. We will always remember our father for his hard work and his ability to "keep pressing" as he always used to say.
