Commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War Taking Place in HawaiiShareThis
The President of the United States and the Secretary of Defense established the 50th Anniversary of Vietnam War Commemoration in 2008. The Governor of the State of Hawaii set May 23 - 29, 2017 to be the International Honor Week in Hawaii. A number of events will take place in and around Honolulu, Hawaii during the above period. It is expected that the commemoration will draw attendees from Hawaii, mainland United States, and the allied nations of Australia, New Zealand, Korea, Thailand, Taiwan, and the former Republic of Vietnam.
“Our goal is to honor Vietnam Veterans, their families, the personnel and businesses that provided the support during the war and to increase public awareness of the sacrifices they have made,” said the Executive Director of the event, Col Gene Castagnetti USMC Ret.
